Timothy J. Ashley announced as Quincy’s new Chief of Police
The newly appointed chief spoke at his first meet and greet event Wednesday night, November 3, at the Campbell-Kelly Center, in Quincy, in front of a jam-packed crowd full of local citizens, police officials, and city commissioners.
Chief Ashley’s biggest points in his speech about plans to better the community was a focus on building up the youth.
Timothy J. Ashley, joined by his wife Lydia Ashley, is sworn into office as Quincy’s chief of police by Pastor Derrick Sykes on Monday, November 8 at Quincy’s City Hall.
“The youth and taking back our neighborhood are important but guess what? United we stand, divided we shall fall,” said Ashley. “I need you. I’m not saying I want your help, but I need your help.”
Ashley added that he will be depending on the community to be the eyes and ears of his department, and will continue meeting with members of the Quincy community.
“We have to give the young people something that they can believe in and stay in touch,” Ashley added.
Chief Ashley currently resides in Gadsden County with his wife Lydia and four children.
Chief Ashley served in law enforcement for over 30 years, dating back to 1981 as a Florida State Trooper; before the selection of Chief of Police, Ashley previously served as Captain of the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office since 2013.
He led the agency’s patrol operations, administration office, and equipment and vehicle fleet.
The new chief continued his meet and greet appearances leading up to his official swearing, that took place on November 8 at Quincy City Hall.
